And hey if you like Edge enough, you can even have it set as your default web browser on the Mac if you want to. These early beta builds for Edge are probably best suited for developers, but will undoubtedly appeal to tinkerers and Windows users with Macs too.Īs you may already know, Microsoft Edge is the default web browser for Windows 10 (which you’ve long been able to run in Boot Camp or a virtual machine on a Mac), and Microsoft Edge for iPhone and iPad is also available too, so if you enjoy the browser on one platform you might also want to use it on other devices too to sync all of your data between those platforms and browsers. If you just want to play around with the browser and explore, the Dev build is probably better suited for that purpose. You can install and try out either or both (or neither) on a Mac. The Canary build will receive updates daily, while the Dev build will receive updates weekly. Updates to the Edge builds will arrive through the browser itself, much like they do in Google Chrome (which again, Edge for Mac is based on Chromium).
From some brief preliminary testing, despite being a developer beta build it seems to work fine and be stable enough for regular use. Launching and using the Microsoft Edge browser on the Mac is the same as any other Mac app, as it installs into your /Applications folder.
